What hardware do I need to get the best results to download and record movies from the Internet?

I’m ready to purchase a new computer and would like to know what specs should give the best results.
I prefer an Intel processor and Windows OS but I’m not inflexible.

    First, you need to invest in Virgin Media’s 50MB connection for the best results in the UK. Then you need any Intel dual-core processor @ 2.2 GHz or above, any AMD dual-core @ 2.8GHz or above, any Intel quad-core, or any AMD quad-core. Wait for Windows 7 in summer. Also make sure you have all the recommended parts elsewhere and you’re sorted. Be mindful of the fact that the 50MB connection may not reach your area for a while.
